Meet Our Staff! Dr. Carita Meyer Dr. Meyer is the owner of Blackbob Pet Hospital. The practice was first opened in 1991. She is a Kansas State University graduate, and mom to two boys and three dogs! Dr. Mary Hughes Dr. Hughes graduated from Kansas State University in 1999. She started her career as a small animal practitioner shortly after graduation in Mission, Kansas at Dearborn Animal Hospital and here at Blackbob Pet Hospital. Dr. Hughes joined us full time in April, 2000. Dr. Hughes is originally from California and decided to make Kansas her home after marrying her husband, Jed, in 1998. Dr. Hughes and her husband live in Overland Park and have three children, three dogs, and three cats.

Cat Clinic with Separate Entrance
Located at the south end of our building, we have created a soothing cat only space to focus on feline wellness and seek to elevate the veterinary experience for both the cat and our client. Toys, ledges, and perches encourage cats to move freely, blanket lined baskets and hide-outs allow for security and comfort. We are AAHA Accredited and earned a Gold level rating from American Association Feline Practitioners.
