After growing up in the pastures of rural Ireland, Hugh McGuirk moved to the United States in 1998 and began working as an apprentice in masonry with his family. Within a few short years, he started his own masonry company but ended up acting as a general contractor for most of his projects. In 2012, he decided to get experience working in the corporate world for a commercial cleaning company, serving as an account manager. Soon, he realized that with his combined knowledge of construction and cleaning, he could offer customers a one-stop solution to their building maintenance needs. In 2016, after gaining over 20 years of valuable experience, Hugh ascended into entrepreneurship and started his own commercial cleaning company, HK Facility Services. Hugh understands that as a business owner, his responsibility is to not only keep your facility looking great but to function as a reliable partner, as someone you can count on to be there, no matter the circumstances. This may sound like a simple thing, but unfortunately, many companies are either too big for the owner to have a close, dependable relationship with his customers or too small to get the job done effectively. Hugh makes his home in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, along with his wife, four children, and two dogs. He’s come a long way from the small farm in Monaghan County, where his siblings and mother still reside, but he credits his roots for paving the path toward today’s accomplishments. In fact, since their days of working on a farm, most of his siblings have since started their own successful businesses – it must be in their blood!
